Send SMS using XML address book
Send SMS to multiple contacts without entering each phone number manually. This guide shows how to import an XML address book into Ozeki SMS Gateway, select it as the recipient in SMS Messenger, compose your message, and check the results in the Sent folder.
Template XML file: xml_template.xml
File content example:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Contacts> <Contact> <Name>George Washington</Name> <Phone>17890430</Phone> <Email>george@washington.com</Email> </Contact> <Contact> <Name>John Adams</Name> <Phone>17970304</Phone> <Email>john@adams.com</Email> </Contact> <Contact> <Name>Thomas Jefferson</Name> <Phone>18010304</Phone> <Email>thomas@jefferson.com</Email> </Contact> <Contact> <Name>James Madison</Name> <Phone>18090304</Phone> <Email>james@madison.com</Email> </Contact> <Contact> <Name>James Monroe</Name> <Phone>18170304</Phone> <Email>james@monroe.com</Email> </Contact> </Contacts>
Open Ozeki SMS Gateway and launch SMS Messenger from the desktop. This is where you will import the XML address book, compose the message, and send it to the contacts in the file.
In SMS Messenger, open the Contacts menu. From here, you can create an address book that uses the contact details stored in your XML file.
Choose the XML address book option. This tells SMS Messenger which file format you want to import before you select the file containing your recipients.
Upload your XML contact file. If you need a starting format, use the template linked on the page, then check that the file contains the intended contacts before importing it.
Confirm that the XML address book appears in Contacts after the upload. Check the imported entries so you know the recipient names and phone numbers are available for sending.
Return to the message composer and select the XML address book as the recipient. SMS Messenger will use the contacts in that book instead of a single manually entered number.
Write your SMS, review the selected address book and message text, then click Send. The gateway will submit the message for the recipients in the XML address book.
Open the Sent folder to review the resulting messages. Check that entries appear for the intended recipients, and investigate any missing or failed deliveries.
